Puente Learning Center Annual Gala

At Puente's annual gala, Maria Shriver was honored for her commitment to service and empowering the working poor families in California. 2005 Minerva Award Winner, Sister Jennie Lechtenberg, founded the nationally and internationally renowned Puente Learning Center in 1985 and continues to serve as its Executive Director. Today, Puente Learning Center provides education to more than 3,000 economically disadvantaged students each day.

"Minerva is symbolic of the multiple roles women play in the lives of our families and communities - and in the lives of Californians," said Maria Shriver.
